Artist (Excellence)-Painting
RITU DUA, Pune
Ritu loves to get inspired by the things around. She pens poetry taking her art as inspiration, and vice versa. She feels that her words elevate her artwork. They are an expression of her true positive self. As a sustainable art activist, she takes particular delight in creating environment friendly art and one such thing that she adores is a humble used teabag. Mixed media is her forte! She is an amalgamation of what all she has chosen to do and absolutely enjoys this pure, boundless extravagance!
What is good art according to you?
I believe a piece of art needs to connect. It needs to have some element of truth to it that resonates with the viewer. Everyone has a different perspective and sees the world in a multitude of ways and so I believe a great piece of art is when it takes you on a journey and you remember it for a longtime.
Would you like to contribute to WADE ASIA through art?
I have been conducting workshops and so can definitely do the same for WADE ASIA and cater to a larger audience. I would like to propagate my knowledge and experience in the field of “recycled media”. I can also create art for WADE ASIA visitors and do my bit to impact social change. I am also a writer and most of my works are accompanied by my own writings or poems. So, if given a task to write for WADE ASIA, I am sure I will be able to carry it out.
As a platform for networking & recognition, was WADE ASIA able to provide the environment?
As an artist I feel networks are probably the most important part of learning, finding an audience, getting exhibitions, hearing about opportunities that could be useful, sharing experiences about your own practice and talking about your work.
WADE ASIA is a strong platform which brings forward talented women from different walks of life closer and provides opportunities, forces growth and gives you support. Besides meeting such wonderful people, it
“A flower does not think of competing with the other flowers in the garden, it just blooms. WADE ASIA, I believe is doing the same. It is selflessly working towards bringing together talented women on a single stage and celebrating their uniqueness.”
Also enabled me to enrich my knowledge through the various talks from the Masters and the workshops I got to attend. I truly appreciate and congratulate the Founder and the team for all their efforts.
What is your best takeaway from WADE?
WADE ASIA 2019 acts as a bond between the leading Architects, Designers and Artists and the aspiring ones. The transparency and openness that I witnessed displayed a sense of acceptance towards all, which I believe is key to true progress and development.
Few suggestions for the future.
In future, art related talks and workshops could also be organised. This may enable the audience to benefit from the experiences of other artists, their techniques and processes. It also might work towards generating more ideas to serve the society in a more positive way.
